That strike saw the record books rewritten, with the Gotham FC star becoming the first USWNT player to score in a competitive knockout stage match for the States within her first five international appearances – with Angela Hucles, who netted when earning her ninth cap, nudged down the pecking order.

The USWNT will be back in action on Wednesday when they lock horns with Canada at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. Victory in that contest would present them with another shot at major silverware, as they continue to rebuild on the back of a disappointing showing at the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
